SPECIES:                     Spruce & Up to 25% of Fir per load, white wood only

DIAMETER:                  Minimum Top - 4" (inside bark)
                                        Minimum Butt - 7.0" (inside bark)  

LENGTH:                      Minimum Length - 16' 6".
                                        All stems must be full tree length, Semi tree length not accepted.

QUALITY:                     KNOTS:     Must be trimmed flush with the stem.
                                                            In any 4' section of a bolt not more than 12 knots
                                                            1 - 3" diameter or not more than 8 knots greater
                                                             than 3".  No excessively knotty pasture spruce.

                                        SWEEP:    No more than 20" over the length of the bolts.

                                        ROT:           Maximum of 3" rot for butts with diameter greater
                                                             than 10" and not rot in butts less than 10"
.

                                        AGE:           Wood must be delivered within three months of harvest.

                                        UNACCEPTABLE WOOD:
                                                            Forked, excessively knotty, excessively flared butt or sweep, ring shake,
                                                            defective  volume exceedings 1/3 of gross volume, deteriorated by age,
                                                            trees harvested with a mechanical shear.

                                        NOTE:      Defective bolts within loads accepted as grade 1 or 2 may be deducted
                                                           from the scale and sent back to producers on the truck OR downgraded
                                                           to pulp grade 1 or 2 (Sussex Chip Plant specifications) at the discretion
                                                           of the scale staff on duty.  Any disputes regarding scale or grade shall be
                                                           brought to the attention of the scale staff or District Administrator Sussex
                                                           Region at the time of delivery by the turcker or producer and, if unloaded,
                                                           piled separately.
