AGE:                                   Less than one month old.  (June 1 - Sept. 30), otherwise less than two months old.

QUALITY:                          Must be cut from green, sound and straight trees.
                                             Excessive crook is unacceptable
                                             Maximum sweep 2" per bolt.
                                             No forked or burned wood.
                                             Knots must be trimmed flush.  (No pasture spruce)
                                            Butt flares & scarfs must be cut off, butt flare limited to 2" from main bole.
                                            Rot is unacceptable.
                                            Hard red stain is acceptable.  White flaked red stained is unacceptable.
                                            Seams, cat faces, porcupine chew - defects greater than 1" is unacceptable.
                                            Dead wood (dried out, bark coming off) is unacceptable.
