Private Woodlot Silviculture Program - 2010
Silviculture activities are well underway here in the SNB region. Field staff are busy meeting with woodlot owners and silviculture contractors to ensure everybody has lots of work lined up. Funding levels are once again at the 90% level for 2010. Our total budget for the SNB region is approximately $1.6 million and is being provided through the NB Department of Natural Resources and ACOA. We are expecting to carry out approximately 1200 hectares of pre-commercial thinning and 350 hectares of planting this year.
If you would like to participate in the silviculture program, please contact our office. For a list of the activities funded through the silviculture program and the assistance rates for each, click here.
SNB Fund Activities - 2010
SNB will continue to provide woodlot owners with financial assistance for a wide variety alternative harvesting treatments during 2010. With these activities financed by forest management levies, budgets will be a bit reduced compared to previous years as a result of lower sales. If you are interested in participating in these programs, please contact the office. GIS System SNB
maintains a comprehensive Arcview GIS system database. We are very
proud of our dynamic system that we have put together over the past
10 years. We have our own Service N.B. property database along
with many DNR layers including such features as roads, forest
inventory, streams, wetlands, aerial photos and many more.
Feel free to stop by our office anytime to check your woodlot's
information on our system. |
Retail Seedling Sales
Each spring, SNB purchases upwards of 1 million seedlings for our
tree planting program and retail seedling sales. Depending on
species, prices will range between 16 - 60 cents per seedling.
Orders can be placed for as little as one tray. Tray sizes vary with
species; 66 and 280 are the two most common sizes. Ensure to place
your orders early. Seedlings usually begin arriving around mid May.
