Private Woodlot Silviculture Program - 2009
The beginning of 2009 silviculture season brought with it some good news. The first was that the Province of New Brunswick decided to reverse its decision of reducing silviculture assistance rates from the 70% we had in 2008 to 90% for 2009. On top of that, the Federal Government through the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency (ACOA) also announced that they would be contributing $3.5 million to private woodlot silviculture over the next two years. The combination of these two funding sources will result in a total provincial silviculture budget of $7.75 million being available for both 2009 & 2010.
This enhanced funding will provide many needed employment opportunities in rural New Brunswick. If you would like to take advantage of this enhanced funding, please contact our office to have your name added to the request list.

SNB Fund Activities - 2009
SNB will continue to provide woodlot owners with financial assistance for a wide variety alternative harvesting treatments during 2009. With these activities financed by forest management levies, budgets will be a bit reduced compared to previous years as a result of lower sales. If you are interested in participating in these programs, please contact the office. GIS System SNB
maintains a comprehensive Arcview GIS system database. We are very
proud of our dynamic system that we have put together over the past
10 years. We have our own Service N.B. property database along
with many DNR layers including such features as roads, forest
inventory, streams, wetlands, aerial photos and many more.
Feel free to stop by our office anytime to check your woodlot's
information on our system. |
Retail Seedling Sales
Each spring, SNB purchases upwards of 1 million seedlings for our
tree planting program and retail seedling sales. Depending on
species, prices will range between 16 - 60 cents per seedling.
Orders can be placed for as little as one tray. Tray sizes vary with
species; 66 and 280 are the two most common sizes. Ensure to place
your orders early. Seedlings usually begin arriving around mid May.
